Demand Planner
Dogs, cats, budgies and everything in between - pets deserve the world. They make us want to be better humans. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to build the most engaged and passionate community of pets and pet parents across the world. And we’re looking for talented team mates who can help us do it.
Founded in Sydney, our team of 500+ pet obsessives span Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines. We’ve scaled to become one of Australia's top five eComm companies and the no.1 online pet store. But we’re just getting started. Like a whippet who’s spotted their mate across the dog park, our growth is only going to accelerate, as we continue to disrupt the way that pet parents shop.
Excitingly, the pet industry is booming (as in $15 billion kind of booming) and online pet retail is set to grow exponentially in the next five years. So this is a unique career opportunity to be part of our epic growth story.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Planning Manager, you will be responsible for Demand Planning activities across all Pet Circle Warehouses and various categories. The primary focus of this role is ensuring that item and category-level forecasts are as accurate as possible for your assigned categories, aligning them with the Merchandise Category Sales. To achieve these objectives, you will work closely with external suppliers and collaborate cross-functionally with various internal teams, including Merchandising, Customer Service, Operations, and Marketing.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead and manage demand planning processes to meet KPIs, timelines, and business expectations.
- Monitor planned inventory receipts and item levels to ensure high customer fill rates.
- Analyse, prepare, and place weekly orders, ensuring MOQs/MOVs and warehouse/vendor efficiencies are met.
- Identify and address the root causes of key inventory stock-outs and overstocks.
- Collaborate with all four warehouses on inbound efficiencies, inventory efficiencies for our AMR, and stock transfer coordination.
- Manage supplier relationships through regular meetings to discuss performance and potential stock issues.
- Provide relevant information to colleagues to allow for pre-emptive management of potential supply and stock risks.
- Work with Planning Managers to manage distressed, expiry risk, discontinued, and overstocked items.
- Ensure new product launches and promotional activities have adequate stock.
- Maintain weekly item-level and monthly category-level statistical forecasts in the Anaplan supply chain management software.
- Conduct comprehensive monthly reviews of item demand forecasts and ad-hoc reviews in response to trends.
- Collaborate with merchandise and marketing teams to forecast new products and promotions.
- Review historical sales trends, demand drivers, and promotional performance to implement or recommend actions.
The ideal toolbox
- 3+ years of relevant experience with inventory management, supply planning and replenishment ordering within a high SKU environment (preferably in an FMCG or retail organisation).
- Proficient in supply chain management software and ERP Tools (Anaplan, Logility, SAP, JDA, Netsuite or similar)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite.
- Strong commercial acumen and a merchant mentality.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Superior attention to detail, planning, and organisational skills.
- Ability to analyse data and make rational judgements to produce workable solutions.
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves and be hands on to achieve outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with others, both internally (cross-functionally within a Supply Chain or Merchandising team) as well as externally with partners.
