The opportunity

As VP Logistics, you’ll take full ownership of Pet Circle’s logistics operations - rolling up your sleeves to deliver a world-class customer delivery experience. This is a hands-on operational leadership role where you’ll be just as comfortable mapping strategy as you are problem-solving on the ground.

You’ll lead a small, capable team (Inbound Logistics Manager and Fleet Manager) and work side-by-side with our VP Fulfilment to ensure that every order leaves our fulfilment centres safely, efficiently, and with the speed and reliability our customers expect.

You’ll manage our owned fleet and a national network of delivery partners, balancing cost efficiency with safety, delivery performance, and customer delight. Your commercial acumen will help drive continuous improvement - but you’ll always keep customer experience and safety front and centre.

What you’ll be doing

• Own and run Pet Circle’s logistics operations day-to-day - this is a hands-on leadership role, not one from behind a desk.

• Work directly with an Inbound Logistics Manager and Fleet Manager to plan, coordinate, and troubleshoot daily inbound and outbound activities.

• Oversee Pet Circle’s owned fleet (c.20 vehicles) and a network of last-mile courier partners across metro and regional Australia.

• Be on the ground and in the detail - visiting fulfilment sites, working alongside the team, and continuously optimising the flow of goods and deliveries.

• Ensure delivery performance, safety, and customer experience targets are met and continuously improved.

• Partner closely with the VP Fulfilment to jointly own and deliver Pet Circle’s end-to-end customer delivery performance - from warehouse dispatch through to doorstep.

• Own the P&L for logistics operations, driving efficiency, reliability, and sustainability without compromising customer experience, safety and fulfilment efficiency.

• Negotiate and manage commercial agreements with delivery partners, optimising for customer experience, cost and service quality.

• Actively monitor day-to-day performance and costs.

• Develop and execute business cases for logistics initiatives and delivery innovations that support Pet Circle’s growth ambitions.

• Lead, coach, and empower a small, experienced logistics team, demonstrating hands on leadership from beside or behind.

• Actively contribute to the broader Supply Chain and Pet Circle senior leadership teams, bringing a practical, solution-oriented perspective.

• Build a strong working relationship with the VP Fulfilment as co-owners of our overall customer delivery metrics.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Customer Experience, Marketing, Merchandising, Technology, and Product.

• Be the go-to contact for Pet Circle’s external delivery partners, meeting regularly with them to solve problems, review performance, and test new delivery innovations.

• Support new ventures, categories, and delivery experiences from a logistics perspective.

• Define and deliver Pet Circle’s logistics strategy, focusing on operational execution, delivery experience, and safety.

• Lead Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and compliance programs, ensuring safety remains a non-negotiable in every decision.

• Be in the data daily - identifying trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities to lift speed, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

• Deliver tangible operational improvements - from route optimisation to partner performance - while balancing cost with service outcomes.

The ideal toolbox

• Proven leadership across multi-state logistics networks (owned fleets and third-party partnerships)

• Strong P&L management and commercial negotiation experience

• Deep understanding of logistics execution and the trade-offs between customer experience, safety, fulfilment and cost.

• Comfort operating in the data, on the warehouse floor, and in partner meetings. You go where the work takes you!

• Ability to collaborate across technical, commercial, and customer teams.

• Pragmatism, resilience, and curiosity in fast-paced, high-growth and lean team environments.

Role location

We believe that building connections and collaborating as Pet Circlers is super important. So this role is based in our Sydney Distribution Center, in Pemulwuy. This is subject to change in line with business requirements.
